Research and Evaluation Design Support (REDS) for Grant Proposals

The Research and Evaluation Design Support (REDS) for Grant Proposals program provides specialized consultation related to research design, evaluation plans, survey methodology, and statistics. It leverages the expertise of the Institute for Social & Behavioral Research (ISBR) centers and programs. Eligible researchers preparing external proposals receive support at no cost.

Eligibility

Support is provided for:

  • Grant proposals that will be submitted to an external sponsor
  • Proposals led by PIs or Co-PIs who are academic faculty at Indiana University, including tenured and tenure-track faculty, clinical faculty, and research scientists.
  • Any member of the research team may submit a request for REDS support.

We are not able to provide support for:

  • Proposals to be submitted to internal funding programs
  • Proposals led lecturers, visiting faculty, postdocs, residents, graduate students, or emeritus faculty (if you are a collaborator on a project with an eligible PI, you may still submit the request form. See other sources of support, below, for other options that may be available to you.)

Projects

Other sources of support

  • IU Research's Research Development Services (RDS) offers support for faculty preparing proposals to be submitted to external funding sources. Visit the RDS website to learn more and submit a request.
  • Graduate student researchers can request grant support through the GradGrants Center.
  • Support for writing data management and sharing plans is available through the IU Research Data Commons (RDC).

Submit your request

Faculty are encouraged to submit requests as early as possible. Consultations are scheduled based on capacity. Please provide as much information about your project and target funding opportunity as possible.
